An important part of Red Circle’s weight management program is its proprietary combination of nutraceutical supplements that help improve body’s metabolism and weight loss.

Are you considering the HCG diet? Do you know enough about it?

Learn the facts before you decide.
The HCG diet combines a very low-calorie diet with the use of a prescription drug called human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG).  HCG is a hormone approved by the FDA for use in women to treat fertility problems and in pre-pubertal boys to help aid normal sexual development. HCG is produced by the placenta and is also found in pregnant women’s urine. It is not approved for weight loss and has not been proven by scientific peer reviewed science to cause weight loss. However, many obese and overweight people have tried the HCG diet and reported favorable results.

The Commercial HCG Diets; Potentially Unsafe and Unhealthy
The original HCG diet was developed in the 1950’s by a London physician named ATW Simeons. He used an extremely restricted 500 calorie per day diet. This severe calorie restriction can cause short-term weight loss. Dr. Simeons thought that using the drug HCG with calorie restriction could increase weight loss and redistribute fat from the thighs and buttocks to different areas of the body.  In theory, the hCG hormone is supposed to suppress hunger and trigger your body’s use of fat for fuel but these have not been shown in clinical trials and the FDA noted that hCG is not a weight loss drug. The drug HCG should also only be used under medical supervision. HCG can cause side effects including headache, fatigue, irritability, restlessness, depression, and fluid retention. Other side effects that have been reported include enlargement and rupture of ovarian cysts, blood clots, testicular tumors, and others. If you choose to try the HCG diet, close medical supervision is important.

The RedCircle HCG Program: Why is it superior to other commercial HCG diets?
The commercial HCG diets are blind! They do not consider your weight, the speed of your metabolism, your activity level and your blood chemistry and hormone levels. They simply run their HCG diet based on a “one size fits all” approach. In other words, they put a 270lb person on the same 500-cal HCG diet as they put a 170lb! Obviously, they have two different metabolic rates and must be treated differently. Moreover, the very low-calorie diet (500 kcal/day) used in the commercial HCG diet is so severe that it should only be used under close medical supervision. Even then, careful attention must be paid to ensure adequate nutrient intake and to monitor for potential side effects of HCG. Unlike other commercial HCG diets you may have read about, the RedCircle HCG program does not support the same 500 calorie diet for everyone. Instead, we customize the calorie restriction according to your body measurements, metabolic rate, and weight loss goals to ensure that you lose pounds safely and effectively. There’s no need to starve your body of essential nutrients!

Dr. Oz has reviewed the commercial HCG Diets on his show:
Dr. Oz does not support a 500 calorie per day diet and acknowledges the lack of scientific evidence showing efficacy, but he thinks the HCG diet is worth considering given the large number of anecdotal positive reviews.
